- SynopsisComedy. Sam Bell and his wife, Lucy, are desperate to have a baby, and try every means possible to achieve their aim. Sam, a commissioning editor working for the BBC, is unhappy in his job and has decided he would rather be a scriptwriter. Without his wife's knowledge, he uses her thoughts and conversations, often by secretly reading her diary, as the germ of an idea for a film, which is accepted by the BBC. The film, a so-called view from the `woman's perspective', goes into production at the same time Sam and Lucy are trying their hardest to produce a son and heir. (Synopsis)
